Does anyone want to continue studying abroad? Both offline and online? An English test is one of the requirements for the admission needs, and we, as applicants, are obligated to take one of these tests to pass.
Here, in the "college student life" section (my new theme of writing), I'd like to introduce 3 types of English tests that are commonly used for admission requirements.
Next time, I'd probably also write some sites to practice these tests before taking the official test here. As I always say, stay tuned!
Let's be straightforward.. here we go..
1.TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
This is the most common English test that students take, and it is typically used in the US, so if you're planning on continuing your studies in the US, this is the test for you. The TOEFL practice test begins now in order to achieve the required score.
There are two formats for this test:
The first one is the TOEFL ITP, which consists of three sections: Listening Comprehension, Grammar Structure, Written Expression, and Reading Comprehension. This type usually takes 2 hours and the score range is 310–677, and the minimum TOEFL score for continuing studies is above 550, so you gotta get used to it (the format of the test) to achieve that score.
However, there's also the IBT TOEFL, and many universities require this one to take.
The IBT consists of four sections: listening, reading, writing, and speaking, with a maximum score of 120.

2. IELTS (International English Language Testing System)
This is usually used in the UK and Australia.
IELTS consists of four sections: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. The maximum score or band is 9.0, and most universities require a minimum score of 6.5 or above.
There are two types of IELTS: General for workers and Academic for students who continue studies.
Which one is easier? Undoubtedly, academic is harder, especially in the writing section.
Here's the official site to look up more information about IELTS. IELTS
3. DET (Duolingo English Test)
Duolingo English Test
I'm sure this test isn't as familiar as the two I mentioned before. Am I right?
Even though I haven't graduated from my undergraduate degree yet, I can spend my time for hours looking up a lot of information about continuing studies for a graduate degree and DET can be an alternative test because it costs about 49 dollars, which is much cheaper than the two I mentioned before. affordable enough, right?
This test can also be taken online, making it more flexible.
The maximum score for this test is 160, which consists of four sections: literacy (reading + writing), comprehension (listening + reading), conversation (speaking + listening), and production (writing + speaking).
Asking for the eligibility of this test? Many campuses abroad accept this test, so no worries.
Mostly, universities require a minimum score of 120 for this test, which is categorized as advanced.
On the site, before you take the test, you can practice as much as you can to know which range you can achieve and which one you should improve to achieve the expected score.
You just need about an hour to take this test, and the result will be sent to you through email in no more than 48 hours. I highly recommend it!
Those are types of English tests that are accepted in many universities around the world. Which one did you decide to take? Practice a lot to get the score that you expect.
In my upcoming articles, I'll cover a variety of topics related to #collegestudentlife. See you.
