It's time to share some free resources for practicing another English test: the Duolingo English Test.

However, I don't promise that there will be five sites like in the previous post I wrote here because DET itself isn't as popular as the two tests TOEFL and IELTS, so I'll just put some sites I know.

Here we go.

1. Duolingo English Test Practice

The first one is provided by Duolingo itself. It's a 15-minute practice test to get used to it, such as the format of the test, etc.

The most interesting thing about this test is that we should be able to select which words are English and which are not.

Also, we can practice other skills such as listening, writing, and speaking.

At the end, we'll get an estimate of our score so we can practice more in the sections where we still find some low scores.

2. DET Ready by Teacher Luke

This site belongs to Teacher Luke, who is experienced in DET.

Teacher Luke has over 10 years of English teaching experience and a Master’s Degree in English Education. He’s the number one Duolingo English Test teacher and has helped over 200,000 students worldwide with Duolingo English Test lessons and courses.

  • Extensive Teaching Experience (13+ Years)

If you want to practice DET, just click on "free plan" and you'll get 5 questions for free to practice. It's commendable, isn't it?

you can update to the premium plan to get an extra feature.

Teacher Luke also has a YouTube channel to help us more. Here's the link: Teacher Luke YouTube

I found everything about Teacher Luke's lesson on a Facebook group, and most of the DET test takers obtained the highest scores between 140 and 155 after watching Teacher Luke's videos on his YouTube. That's why this one is highly recommended.

3. TCY Online Duolingo English Test Practice

This site provides five DET practice tests that you can try.

Those are three free sites to practice DET, and here I want to share 10 tips to be successful at DET.

Tip 1: Learn and practise new vocabulary. Look

up new words in the dictionary or note down unknown words you see when watching or listening to something in English.

Tip 2: Improve your listening skills.

Why not start watching a new TV show on Netflix or other streaming sites? There’s something for everyone out there!

Tip 3: Start reading and pay attention to the grammar structures.

Read a book, magazine, online newspaper, or blog. Look at how different grammar structures are used in different types of writing.

Tip 4: Listen for American accents.

Do you like podcasts? Do you listen to the radio? The test uses American accents, so if you’re not used to these, then get listening!

Tip 5: Work on your sentence intonation.

Record yourself saying set sentences to practise your intonation.

Tip 6: Practice your vocabulary and pronunciation.

Check the correct version of the YouTube videos to test your pronunciation.

Tip 7: Start writing and practice using descriptive language.

Write short sentences about things that you can see around you, trying to use new and exciting descriptive language.

Tip 8: Have a go at speaking about something for 30 seconds.

Choose a topic that you are interested in and record yourself on your phone or computer, then listen back to it. Do this a few times to see how you improve!

Tip 9: Practice speaking about a topic in English for 1-3 minutes.

Once you have mastered speaking for 30 seconds, extend your recording to 1-3 minutes and keep repeating this until you feel confident speaking for this long.

Tip 10: Put your writing into action and see if you can think about a topic for 3-5 minutes.

If you have practiced learning new vocabulary and noting grammar structures from things you have read, it’s time for you to put it all into practice and write!
